It is our preference that visitors refrain from bringing their dogs to our nature reserves, however if do you choose to bring your dog for a walk at one of our nature reserves where dogs are permitted, please keep dogs on leads to ensure the safety of both wildlife and visitors. Wildlife crime can take many forms and it can be difficult to know what constitutes a crime. They can range from organised crimes (such as the trade in endangered species) to people shooting at birds with air guns. We have listed examples below of wildlife crime and if you believe you may have witnessed any of these, please share this information to assist in bringing offenders to justice.
Somerset Wildlife Trust will be carrying out peat restoration work at Westhay Moor National Nature Reserve. The work is being funded by the Nature for Climate Peatland Grant Scheme which is administered by Natural England on behalf of Defra.
Honeygar is located between the Trust’s Westhay Moor NNR, Westhay Heath and Catcott nature reserves in the Avalon Marshes, one of the largest and most important wetland areas in the UK.
