What makes a rainforest?
Meet 9.45am at Horner National Trust car park, TA24 8HY
A morning in Horner Wood with Angie Cruse. Discover what it is that makes Horner Wood a temperate rainforest. Find out about the special lichens and mosses that live there and why they are important. Examine the wood’s unique habitats and microclimates. Learn about the pressures the UK’s rainforests are facing, and what organisations like Plantlife are doing to restore and protect them.

How to survey a rainforest: How healthy is Horner?
Meet 1.15pm at Horner National Trust car park, TA24 8HY
An introduction to Plantlife's Rapid Rainforest Assessment.
Discover how this user-friendly survey helps us to assess our temperate rainforests’ health. Learn how to recognise a rainforest’s woodland structure and common habitat features. Take a close look at the tree species that make up the wood. This session is open to everyone, but is particularly suitable for anyone interested in using the survey for the temperate rainforests in South West England, Wales or Scotland.
Maximum 20 participants: booking strongly advised.
