About the event

We can look closely for these changes, documenting them with simple line drawings. From your drawings we will explore ways of designing pochoir prints, working towards a layered composition of pattern and landscape. We will be cutting and tearing multiple layer stencils and building up the colour and tones of the images. We will use a variety of mediums for you to work with, earth pigments, watercolour, inks and ink pads, sponges and stipple brushes. This printmaking technique can be used to create simple or more complex images, and we will encourage experimentation. This technique is a great way to achieve subtle details, build up rich layers, and play with surface and colour. Our workshop will advocate for careful observation of the details we might overlook in nature, explore different patterns and forms in the landscape and how they might work together. We will use a selected range of colour and materials, providing resources and an approach that encourages curiosity and playfulness. Participants will leave with a collection of ink and pencil studies, and a number of finished pochoir works of art A5 size. We will also provide information for how to continue exploring this process at home, with easy and inexpensive materials.
