About the event

Join the Wilder Churches team from Somerset Wildlife Trust and the Diocese of Bath and Wells to find out more about increasing the value of your churchyard or burial ground for nature. Wilder Churches is a joint initiative that has been supporting communities to make space for nature in their local churchyard, other church land or burial ground since March 2021.

With a recent call from Bishop Michael for churches across the county to get involved, we are running a refresh of our previous training sessions. Anyone and everyone is welcome, whether this is the first time you’ve heard about Wilder Churches or time has flown by and you would appreciate a refresh, we’d love to have you!

This session will provide advice on creating a simple practical management plan for your churchyard that outlines how the space is being cared for with nature in mind and why. We will discuss potential sources of funding, and other ways to manage financial costs that can arise from changing management or creating habitats as part of your plan. We will also share examples of management plans from other churchyards involved in the initiative.

The last part of the session will include a Q&A with the team, where you can ask a question, seek advice or share your own experience.
