Free Will-writing services for supporters

Writing my Will has given me real peace of mind. I've made things easier for my family by letting them know my wishes. I also know I'll be helping to protect local wildlife in the future by including a gift to Somerset Wildlife Trust

How you can help

We have entered into a number of partnerships that enable our supporters to write their Wills for free – without any obligations whatsoever.  In each case, we are paying a discretionary rate for a limited number of simple Wills to be written – if matters are more complex, you will need to pay any additional fees.

You can meet a local solicitor, many of whom may offer remote appointments, or write your Will online - see below for details or contact Lucy Marsh to arrange a discussion in confidence.

All free Wills are checked by a qualified solicitor

You’ll have a choice of local solicitors’ practices to meet with - complete a very short form to request an information pack.

Draft a Will in as little as 15 minutes, have it checked by a solicitor within a few days and protect the wishes in your Will from challenge.

Make a Will online

Whether you choose to make a free Will online or with a solicitor, please note that only simple Wills are covered by these services.  If you have a complex estate or have a dementia related illness or are on high medication, we would always recommend visiting a solicitor in person.  You could use The National Free Wills Network as indicated above and pay for any additional services, or find a solicitor via The Law Society.

You may, of course, also choose to pay for your own Will with your own solicitor.

Read our legacy promises

Gifts in Wills are crucial in helping us plan for the future – making sure that it’s wildlife-rich and that people in Somerset understand why this is so important.  Happily, it’s widely acknowledged that around 35% of people in the UK would consider leaving a gift to charity.  However, despite these good intentions, research suggests that only around 6% of people have actually left a bequest to good causes.

We know what a difference bridging that gap between 6% and 35% could make for wildlife locally.  Gifts in Wills already do wonderful things – in recent years, they’ve helped us manage nature reserves, protect individual species, save wildlife sites and help schoolchildren make beautiful wildlife gardens – but there is clearly so much more that could be done.
