Have you spotted a porpoise or other sea mammals in Somerset Waters?
Casual Sightings
Somerset Wildlife Trust are keen to collate records of marine mammals along Somerset’s coast and encourage people to submit their sightings on our google form below. This will help us to gain a better understanding of the distribution and abundance of our resident harbour porpoise population as well as track sightings of seals and other less frequent visitors such as dolphins and whales.
All data will also be shared with the Sea Watch Foundation. You can find out more about this charity here and download their Sea Watcher App.

Effort surveys
If you are interested in contributing further to our records and completing a 2 hour land-based effort survey please check out the training video below or attend one of our in person training events. We use the Sea Watch Foundation effort survey method and you can submit your data to Somerset Wildlife Trust here.
