As a People Support Mentor you will help the Somerset Nature Connections team to deliver outdoor sessions to support people to develop nature-based tools to help manage their own mental wellbeing.
You’ll be involved with regularly supporting groups, engaging with people experiencing socially isolation and/or mild to moderate depression, low mood, anxiety or stress. You will support people to engage in group activities such as practical tasks, carpentry, natural arts and crafts, mindfulness etc. You’ll need to have a genuine interest in supporting people, good communication skills and an approachable manor – it’s a bonus if you have outdoor or practical skills to share!
We welcome applications from anyone able to demonstrate the aptitudes we are looking for, aiming to build a diverse volunteer team, who can connect with people from all walks of life. At the moment, we would particularly welcome applications from men who would be interested in joining our Quantocks team.
Please be aware that due to the nature of this role we may request a reference, and/or DBS check.
It is important to note that this will initially be a short term volunteer role due to funding ending in early autumn, but we are hoping to extend.
