We have a variety of opportunities for those ages 16-30 to get involved in volunteering at Somerset Wildlife Trust.

Our practical conservation volunteer groups carry out essential habitat management tasks for the benefit of local wildlife, and we couldn’t manage our reserves in the way we do without them. Find out more.

The Wilder Gardening group (originally the Gardening for Wildlife group) was formed to provide support for those already enjoying wildlife gardening as well as to encourage others. Wilder Gardening Champions are volunteers who will happily visit to give advice and guidance on how to create, develop or improve your wildlife garden. We also give talks to gardening and other related groups on any topics associated with wildlife gardening. We have been involved in helping schools develop their grounds to increase biodiversity and maximise the learning potential for the children. We organise a newsletter and occasional events for all our group members.

Somerset Wildlife Trust recognise we need to create a strong, interconnected network of wild spaces and healthy habitats that provide space for nature to thrive. Actively caring for and managing land of any size can contribute to a Nature Recovery Network – nature reserves, community spaces, farms, parks, churchyards, schools, residential gardens, a residential postcode area or a town district – every green space has a part to play.
