MEMBERS' DAY

“Ecosystem Restoration: Do we need to choose between food, wildlife and people?”

Restoring ecosystems has been a staple part of conservation conversations for decades and together, with more recent conversations about wilding, has driven ambitious nature recovery projects all over the UK and in Somerset. With these new projects come new questions for consideration; the effect of removing land from food production; the impact of reintroduced species on communities; and the effect of wilding on our existing rare habitats and species.

Our Members’ Day will bring together a panel of experts who will look at the past, present and future of conservation, and how ecosystem restoration has a positive role to play in both nature recovery and the resilience of communities in Somerset as we face the challenges of a changing climate.

With speakers ranging from specialists in how the current environmental situation came to be, through to farmers and those with a focus on community impact, we hope to look at the practical delivery of ecosystem restoration and its benefits to a wider conservation strategy for Somerset.
