About the event

Join our team of local seashore survey volunteers for an evening search for rocky shore organisms in different intertidal habitats. Are different species found after dark? Does their behaviour change?

A local artist will also be helping us explore what we find with a creative twist!

You do not need to have any prior experience of seashore ecology as there will be experts on hand to assist you.  Complete beginners are very welcome. Somerset Wildlife Trust will provide all the sampling kit and identification guides.

What to bring

WE WILL HAVE SOME INFRA-RED TORCHES BUT PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN TORCHES AS WELL.

Wear adequate and waterproof clothes appropriate to the weather. We will be out for up to 2 hours and conditions can change and be different out on the shore than inland.  There are public toilets and other facilities nearby. The shore is uneven and slippery and in places we will be walking through shallow pools and streams so wellington boots are strongly advised.
