Climate change already affects everyone in Somerset, with flooding and extreme heatwaves impacting communities across the county in recent years. Adapting to our changing climate is essential, so we can reduce the risks to people and wildlife. But a new report from the Climate Change Committee has found that England is ‘strikingly unprepared’ to adapt to climate change, describing the lack of Government action as a ‘lost decade’ for preparing and adapting to the risks the country faces.
In the same week, the Adapting the Levels project has launched its free Climate Adaptation Toolkit. A guide designed for people across Somerset take action into their own hands, and help their communities adapt to climate change. The Toolkit includes:
- information about the need for climate adaptation
- actions individuals and communities can take to adapt
- advice on funding, consents and permits
- resources to help create a locally tailored climate adaption plans
Download the toolkit and resources now, and learn how you can Act to Adapt!
