Come and join us at Asham wood for a day of coppicing. Training will be provided by experienced coppicer Harry Samuel.
About the event
What is Coppicing?
Coppicing occurs during the dormant season, generally late September to early March. The process involves cutting the tree close to the ground on a regular cycle to encourage regrowth from dormant buds at the base of the stool (tree stump). This regrowth creates fast growing stands of dense multi-stemmed trees.
If you are interested in joining a volunteer day with Somerset Wildlife Trust, come and join us in the woods and brush up on your skills in this ancient technique.
